Advent Centering Prayer Retreat
December 14-16, 2012, Friday 6 pm until Sunday 1 pm
This three-day Advent Centering Prayer Retreat offers an introduction to Centering Prayer to those unfamiliar to this way of praying and a deeper experience for those who already have an established practice. Advent looks back to Christ's first coming, ahead to his second coming, and to the present moment where Christ is born within us. Our participation in this season prepares us for Christmas and for Christ's birth within us.
Centering Prayer is the opening of the mind and heart-our whole being-to God, the Ultimate Mystery, beyond thoughts, words and emotions. The 3-Day retreat is an opportunity to develop and sustain a regular practice of this way of praying. There will be instruction in Centering Prayer along with periods of Centering Prayer. This retreat is a great extended introduction to Centering Prayer or an opportunity to deepen a daily practice and will offer a taste of the longer Centering Prayer Retreat experience.
